  Pollença is a town on the island of Majorca with a population of around 20,000 and the site of numerous key historical events which have shaped the destiny of the Mediterranean Sea. Its harbour has witnessed the comings and goings of Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Arabs and Romans…
  
  Today Puerto Pollensa is an attractive town on the north of the island and a key holiday destinations. It offers the sea: there are extensive beaches and the chance to enjoy a whole range of water sports. Just 9 km away is the idyllic beach of Formentor, with its transparent waters and fine sand, set in completely unspoilt, perfectly conserved natural surroundings. It has the mountains: located in the eastern part of the Sierra de Tramuntana, this is a paradise for walkers, birdwatchers and nature lovers in general.
  
  Several well-known cycle touring routes for bicycle enthusiasts run through its towns and villages. It offers culture: the Pollensa Municipal Museum, Anglada Camarasa Museum, Dionís Bennasar House Museum, Martí Vicenç Museum and the famous Pollença classical music festival which takes place in the marvellous cloister of Santo Domingo.
  
  Another outstanding location is the city of Alcudia, 7 km away, which has an extensive cultural heritage dating back to Roman times with the ruins of the Roman city of Pollentia. It offers leisure, fun, broad promenades and above all it offers an outstanding setting where you can enjoy your holiday to the full.
